DODA , APR 03 (KNO) : Irked over the alleged irresponsible, pathetic and casual attitude of the state government , scores of womens of different villagers in Seri area of Bhala Tehsil on Tuesday held a strong protest demonstration and blocked Bhadarwah-Doda highway at Sari for one hour .

As per the protestors many Panchayats of the locality are facing several problems in absence of road connectivity. According to them despite repeated demands since last 15 years, state government failed to provide connectivity to these villages even as conducting several surveys under different schemes. They also alleged that some years back one road was constructed in their areas that is also in bad condition .

To press their demand to get this basic need, the villagers including women and children gathered at ever busy Bhaderwah - Doda highway early in the morning at Sari near Bhala and held a strong protest. The protestors blocked the road amid shouting of slogans against R&B ,PMGSY and local administration who according to them ‘only come up with false promises despite repeated requests and representations submitted to them’.

Hundreds of commuters and dozens of passenger and private vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road as protesters refused the requests of the stranded passengers and demanded redressal of the issue raised by a competent authority. Later , Tehsildar Bhala Aamir along with police officers reached the spot and requested the villagers to suspend the protest as authorities have assured that their demand regarding the road connectivity will be considered on priority. On Tehsildar's assurance, protesters called off their protest and traffic was restored in the afternoon.(KNO)
